Close up colour

Mellow Yellow

Tiled surfaces are common on buildings in
Lisbon. Here the yellow of the tiles matches
the yellow of the local trams quite a contrast
to the current greys of the UK.

Pavement patterns

We spent last weekend in Portugal,
specifically in Lisbon, where there is
pattern everywhere you look
including the pavements.
It makes the city a pleasure to walk
around even in the unpredictable
weather of a February weekend.

Birthday Bags

We have just celebrated K's birthday and her
main request was the latest Cath Kidston
bucket bag. To complete the bag theme and
continue the tradition of little treats I sewed
drawstring bags to package up the smaller
presents. It will be K's last birthday at home
as she gets married in three months!

Winter on the beach

Rare to see the sea this still in summer let
alone winter. Beautiful! We are so lucky to
have this right on our doorstep.

Another Sunny Sunday

The morning after the all-night knit
saw the miracle of another sunny
Sunday so down to the beach we
went for the dual purpose of
enjoying the weather and the beach
as well as tricking my body into
thinking it wanted to be awake.

The final square

Not the most exciting looking piece of knitting
but this was the final square I knitted in the
all night sponsored knit last week.
We knitted from 11.00pm till 7.00am and
between us made nearly 100 squares enough
for a blanket that will be auctioned to raise
more money.
The night was lots of fun with champagne and
birthday cake/ hot soup and breakfast as well
as good conversation to keep us all knitting!

128 days and counting

Recent days have seen my craft
room and craft time devoted to the
mass production of these.
They are wedding invitations for my
daughter K's wedding which happens
in 128 days time!
As she only got engaged just over a
month ago planning and preparation
has been moving along at a fast pace!

Always time for cake!

No sooner do we finish all the
Christmas baking and resolve to
eat healthily for a while than it is
time to start making birthday
cakes. This one was for J's birthday
last week. He helpfully agreed to
eat most of it himself!
