Selfish Knitting
After months of making gifts January is time
to knit something for me! In view of the winter
weather this stripey scarf seems like a good idea
and is using up yarns from the stash mainly yarn
bought in Purl, Soho during my trip to New York
last year.
In the interests of unselfish knitting I've signed
up to do a sponsored knit for BLISS the charity
that helps tiny babies. We are going to knit through
the night from 11.00pm till 7.00am making
squares for a blanket that can also be given to the
charity.

Brighton Blue Skies
Sunday morning dawned with the
miracle of blue skies and sunshine
after two weeks of snow and rain a
walk along the sea front was a must.
First up was cooked breakfast followed
by a couple of hours walk along the sea
front. The second time this month we
have managed to take advantage of
living on the coast!
We are always full of good intentions
at this point in the year, to walk more
especially down by the beach - not
always so good at sticking to the plan!

Winter Blues
Winter weather and the instinct to hibernate
kicks in big time. Also the desire for all things
warm and cosy so a new quilt to curl up with
on the sofa with knitting or a good book seems
to fit the bill.
Last weekend was all about cutting out the
squares. This weekend will hopefully see the
start of putting them all together, along with
some winter walking, soup-making and film-
watching.

Snow days slow days
Tuesday was back to work day but
by the evening it was snowing again
so school has been closed all week and
life has slowed down wonderfully to
a week of working at home admiring
the view from my window.
So far I'm just enjoying the unexpected
gift of a quiet first week back after the
Christmas break lots of time to knit
and read and reflect on the year to come.

Happy New Year
New Year's day 2010 was bright and sunny
though VERY cold here on the beach at Seven
Sisters country park where we went for a walk
to celebrate the start of a new year and the fact
that for once it wasn't raining!
It was a great start to my New Years resolution
to walk more and the beach was beautiful in the
winter sunshine.
