Finished

The bunting is finished - fabric came from a
whole variety of cities and countries: Australia,
Hong Kong, USA, Scotland so lots of good
travelling memories every time I see it.
Today also marks the end of April and my
plan to take at least one photo every day -
harder than you would think!

Finished!

Finished the first bunting project tonight -
hopefully to adorn summer celebrations
in the garden - we shall see!

Mmmmmmm

We try to eat seasonally but these raspberries
were just too tempting!

Bargain shopping

Yesterday was very wet and windy but went ahead
with a planned trip to visit my sister in Worthing
and check out the fabric shops there.
Full of bargains and well worth braving the rain!

Crafty cards

The end of the month means time to make more
cards in preparation for this month's crop of
birthdays. Mostly men this month so these
coffee-themed fabric panels were ideal.

Blue Skies

How often do we see skies this colour in
Britain? This month (April) we have had
great weather and today was particularly
beautiful. All the better for being a weekend
when we could all enjoy it. Due to change
tomorrow though!

This is how it looked on the plate!

On my plate

Spent this afternoon weeding -
not a regular occurence in our
garden. It was a gorgeous day
and good to be outside.
Supper was vegetable curry
using this week's booty from
the veg box.
Here's the picture in the book

Apple Blossom

The apple tree in our garden is
covered with blossom - hopefully
it will be covered with apples in
due course.

On the needles

Also found time for some knitting this week.
This is Rowan chunky wool which knits very
fast so hopefully be posting a finished picture
in the not too distant future.

Bunting stage two

More bunting flags tonight!

Bunting stage one

I have been wanting to try making bunting for
a while but keep putting it off as there are always
gifts to be made. Finally started this week with
the first few "flags"

Simple white bread

Bought a box of recipe cards on our
recent trip to Edinburgh. This was
recipe number one and tasted as
good as it looked.

Bluebells, cockleshells

The garden is also full of these -
no assistance from me required!

In the garden

Growing things is not something
I am good at but did plant bulbs
last autumn and now right on cue
the tulips have arrived as the
daffodils start to fade.

In the Kitchen

Friday is a day of not much free time
in my house - first because it's a
working day - second because it's a
gym night so not much time for fun
stuff but Friday is also Veg box day
and this is what arrived today

Ribbons and bows

Fitted in a quick trip to Liberty on my London
day out. The ribbons and bows came from their
gorgeous haberdashery department but the fabric
came from Mandors in Edinburgh. Two great cities
in one week - back to work now!

Window dressing Two

Also spotted this display of old sewing machines
in a shop window at Westfield shopping mall.

Window dressing

Went to visit Persephone bookshop in Notting Hill
yesterday bought another Dorothy Whipple book
to add to my collection and spotted this tempting
display of pizza in a nearby shop

Fried Easter Egg

Having been away for Easter I belatedly opened
my Easter treat from Hotel Chocolat -
a blueberry flavoured "fried" chocolate egg.
Apart from the Blueberry bit the rest of the egg
is very dark chocolate - my favourite and delicious.

Beautiful Beaches

Finally on Easter Monday we made
it to the beach. Blue skies, sunshine,
miles of sand and a cold north wind
just to remind us we were in Scotland
and it is April but beautiful nonetheless!

Clatterin brig

The sunshine continued for all of
our Scottish Easter weekend.
Easter Sunday saw us in Montrose
taking my mother-in-law out for a
drive and lunch to the little tearoom
beside this bridge. Good food, good
choice (even for veggies), great view,
friendly staff. Full marks!
